DESIGNING OF TAILOR-MADE OFFICE FURNITURE

It is worth focusing on tailor-made office furniture designing process. When working in the industry we focus not only on the look of the furniture, but also on the available space and intended use.

Visual qualities and functions will be different depending on the user; a desk and a chair suitable for an IT specialist will be different than the one for an account’s manager, a bookkeeper or an executive. We are ready to increase or maximise comfort of any employee by suggesting appropriate office arrangements or – what we will discuss later in this chapter – by tailor-made furniture design solutions for particular workplace.

Tailor-made furniture designing – what defines its shape and its functions?

Types of work

Different sizes of worktops, different storing solutions for specific documentation, equipped with media ports, power source and additional lighting – it is important to offer comfort to each employee and adjust the office to the type of work they mostly deal with. That is why when designing furniture we take into consideration all activities performed on a daily basis by the individual.
Please see one of our projects where the workplaces were designed individually, taking into consideration tasks performed by the employees.

Employee’s size

It is obvious that people differ in size, some are tall and stocky and others short and petite. To create a comfortable workplace, suited to an individual employee, we have to design tailormade furniture and take into account the employee’s height and weight. Similarly, when adapting a workplace for a disabled employee we recommend making an individual design, which helps to diminish their limitations in every day functioning. During the design process, our designer will recommend specific solutions for individual employees.

Available office space

Appropriate worktops’ size, ease of moving around the office through corridors and communication strings, ability to use working space without colliding with another person (for example moving the chairs back to back). These are all the aspects we try to account for even if the office space is limited. During stocktaking of future office we take into account all measurements of walls and floors; we also suggest potential usage of the space using tailormade furniture. In one of our projects we suggested to use a tailor-made table which became the focus piece of the whole design.

Prestige of workplace

As we know, tailor-made office furniture also highlights the prestige of management offices. The director’s or manager’s office may influence customer’s judgement of the whole company. We offer tailor-made designs for management. Arrangement of executive rooms may correspond with the visual design of the entire office or it may be completely different, for instance more high-end. When meeting with the investor, we always make sure that a separate meeting is arranged to discuss their requirements regarding management offices.

Glamour of the location

Apart from management offices, there are other office spaces requiring more detailed discussions. These are e.g. conference rooms, lobbies or receptions. In those places we often use individually designed office furniture. Some of the projects that we are working on are not only supposed to be comfortable or functional, but visually interesting – effect achieved by creating interesting shapes, using top quality materials, interesting colours or using built-in multimedia (LCD screens, loudspeakers etc.).
